The award recognizes outstanding workplaces through a two-part evaluation. An employee survey measuring the employee experience accounts for approximately 75% of the total score, while a review of workplace policies, practices and demographics accounts for approximately 25%. Combined scores determine the winning companies and their rankings.

Established in 2014, the Best Places to Work in Baton Rouge program identifies, recognizes and honors outstanding places of employment throughout the region. Program partners include Business Report and Greater Baton Rouge SHRM, an affiliate of the Society for Human Resource Management.
